BLACK KEEL GAMES PRESENTS

Fortune
& Gallows

1713–1730

The Golden Age of Piracy, rebuilt as a living world.

A reactive historical role-playing world where choices carry weight, reputations endure, knowledge is imperfect, and history continues whether or not you are watching.

The pirate age may close around you. Your character's life does not have to.
Freedom. Memory. Reputation. Consequence. No fixed dialogue tree decides what your character is allowed to attempt.

A LIVING HISTORICAL WORLD

History is fixed.
Your knowledge is not.

Ports change. News travels. People remember. Ships arrive and vanish. Institutions, economies, relationships, and historical events continue around you whether or not you are watching.

People Remember

Relationships, obligations, trust, injuries, favors, reputations, and past choices can follow you across scenes, ships, and settlements.

The World Moves

Historical events, authorities, factions, commerce, weather, travel, and information create pressures that do not wait for a quest marker.

You Choose the Attempt

Speak naturally. Make your own plan. Take the risk. The world determines what follows instead of handing you a numbered dialogue wheel.

THE FULL PLAYABLE CAMPAIGN

The age changes.
Your life keeps going.

Fortune & Gallows begins in 1713 and remains playable through the end of 1730. The mid-1720s are a historical and systemic transition—not a magical wall that forces every character to retire.

1713–1724 · Opportunity and dangerA broad Atlantic world of piracy, commerce, naval service, private enterprise, law, crime, labor, politics, and survival.
1725–1730 · The Gallows YearsIf you remain a notorious active pirate, safe harbors shrink and pressure rises. If you built a lawful life, the world has no reason to hunt you simply because the calendar changed.

WHO DO YOU BECOME?

You do not have to be a pirate.

The setting is the Golden Age of Piracy. Your character is still free to build a different life inside it.

Outlaw

Take the pirate road.

Raid, steal, recruit, bargain, hide, build a reputation—and eventually discover what happens when the world becomes determined to suppress piracy.

Legitimate Life

Work inside the world.

Sail, trade, practice a craft, serve institutions, build property and relationships, or pursue opportunity without becoming an outlaw.

Something Between

Change course.

A character may drift between legality and crime, seek pardon, change identity, move into legitimate enterprise, or discover that old choices still have consequences.
